Wilkins's Table.

MDF. 2019.

The animals are divided into vertebrates and invertebrates; the trees, in deciduous and perennial; the bodies, in men and women; the colors, hot and cold, and things are either alive or dead. However, Borges tells us that this is not always the case. Although he names and reorganizes the world and its characteristics throughout all his work, it is especially evident in his story "The analytical language of John Wilkins", which pays homage in this design, where he imaginatively explains how beautiful they can reach to be the, classifications that do not fit encyclopedias, dictionaries, exams, atlases or academies

The sorted table - or Wilkins table - emerges as a place which practices as a reclassification of the world. A space that emulates the cabinets of curiosities of the sixteenth and seventeenth century, where naturalist explorers venture to organize nature. In it you can classify leaves, minerals, fruits, colors, various objects, shells, words or cables, in themselves or with each other. It is an opportunity to uncover an archive of knowledge and play with a new grammar of material fantasy.

The Wilkins table allows you to categorize Lego pieces, stones, colors, seeds, screws, candies ...; sort by sizes, shapes, species, colors ...; explore properties, elements, attributes, differences ...; open new alloys, reclassifications, names, inventions, relationships, hybridizations ...
